Drink water all day long—it’s healthy and helps maintain weight loss goals. -Cut back on the junk food! Junk food has a high calorie content, but low nutritional value. You’ll want to keep away from these foods and replace them with items that offer high protein and complex carbohydrates.
-Drink alcohol in moderation. A glass of wine won’t hurt you, but three glasses may do more harm than good. Alcohol can lead to obesity and poor heart health when over consumed. Drinking too much alcohol can also increase risk of breast cancer and birth defects. Don’t forget to stay active too! The American Heart Association recommends thirty minutes of moderate-intensity exercise five days per week. The time you spend getting up off the couch doesn’t have to be strenuous–a brisk walk every day or every other day will work wonders for your well-being. For example, going for a walk in the morning is better than deciding to start jogging at night because walking is something you may already be doing. And running at night is more difficult because of all the extra lights in public areas.
5. Identify what motivates you and use this as a tool throughout your journey to healthy living. Is it your appearance? Your weight? Or maybe it’s being able to spend more time with your children? Knowing what motivates you is essential in achieving success with any goal.
6. Don’t try to change everything all at once; there will be too many changes happening simultaneously which could lead to feeling overwhelmed or quitting altogether because nothing seems worth the effort anymore. Instead, find one thing to work on (such as eating more vegetables) and slowly but surely add new habits over time.
7. Reward yourself for sticking to your goals by allowing yourself the occasional indulgence. That way you’ll still feel like you’ve accomplished something even though you missed out on some treats along the way. Lastly, never give up. You’ll get discouraged at times and want to quit, but it’s important to always pick yourself back up again. The benefits of staying on track outweigh the consequences of quitting. Remember, slow progress is still progress!

If you’re one of those people, there are things you can do to make vegetables more enjoyable. One is to use different cooking methods. Roasting and sautéing will leave your veggies crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. Another idea is to add lots of flavor by roasting or baking them in the oven in olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice or vinegar. You could also try adding some texture by mixing in other ingredients like shredded cheese or grated ginger root (or other spices). And finally, if all else fails try juicing your veggies for a refreshing beverage that’s packed with vitamins and minerals. Juicing is a great way to get more raw vegetables into your diet without having to eat large quantities of food. Experiment with different combinations of fruit and vegetable juices until you find something that you enjoy. Once you’ve found a recipe that you like, start adding it to your daily routine.
